FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SCREENING AND A SPEECH LANGUAGE EVALUATION?
A screening uses informal measures and takes less time to complete (15-20 minutes). No formal report is completed. A speech and language evaluation uses standardized and/or formal measures to fully assess a child's speech and language skills. Typically, parents complete a history intake form and participate in a parent interview. An evaluation can take an hour to several hours to complete and the evaluator writes a complete report; including background information obtained during the intake process, results of testing, impressions, and recommendations.
HOW LONG IS A SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY SESSION?
The length of a speech language therapy session varies depending on the age and needs of the child. Typically, a session lasts 30-45 minutes of direct service.
DO YOU TAKE MY INSURANCE?
We Teach Speech does not currently participate with insurance companies. If your plan covers speech and language therapy services, you may have the option to submit a claim to your insurance provider on your own, and we would be more than happy to provide a superbill, if requested. Insurance companies have the power to dictate therapy parameters, such as length of sessions, frequency of sessions, etc. We strive to provide the highest quality of service while providing what the child needs instead of what insurance companies dictate. We DO accept cash, checks, credit cards, and health savings account cards (HSA).
